Trillion’s hooks run on your computer, next to the coding AI you already use. Your AI app calls them at set moments (before it changes a file, when you send a message, when it finishes a turn), and each hook does one job with your Trillion account. Nothing here runs on Trillion’s servers.

Decide before building

Stops your AI from editing files or saving work until it has made a Trillion decision in the same turn.

Record every message

Keeps what you said and what your AI replied in your Trillion, from Claude Code, Codex, Gemini CLI and Hermes.

Decisions since you last looked

Tells your AI, at the start of each message, which decisions were made in your Trillion since it last checked.

Keep written files

Sends files your AI writes in folders you choose to your Trillion files, with secrets taken out.

What every hook needs

1

A personal key in your Keychain

The hooks sign in to Trillion with a personal key kept in the macOS Keychain under the name trillion-agent-work-key. Make one in Account & security in your Trillion, then save it:
The command asks for the key, so it never appears in your shell history.
2

Node.js

Each hook is one Node.js file. Any current Node.js release works.
3

The hook files

Each hook is a .mjs file with a .json settings file beside it. Keep the pair together in one folder; the paths below write it as <hooks folder>. To get the files, email hello@gettrillion.ai.

How hooks behave

  • They never slow your turn for long. Each hook has a short time limit (2 to 10 seconds) and ends quietly when it runs out.
  • They never block your AI by failing. Recording and sending hooks always finish without an error, and try again next time. Only the decide-before-building hook refuses on purpose, and it says why.
  • Settings are plain data. Adding a new AI app, a new folder or a new kind of transcript is a line in the hook’s .json file, never a change to the code.
